With the Hurricane Harvey disaster reaching historic proportions in the United States, watch out for charity scams claiming to help victims of this devastating storm.
In particular, beware of phishing emails soliciting aid or donations that will try to convince you to open an attachment or click on a link. In reality, these fraudulent emails will activate malicious software, allowing unwanted access to your computer or mobile device. Also be cautious of:
- Fake social media accounts and “emergency” numbers
- Hurricane Harvey related websites
